Culling

Posted over 1 year ago by Harrison Gowers

Culling is the function that enables the quick removal of duplicated data, email threads and empty folders from a Box.

Culling consists of 4 sub-functions that can be triggered all at once or individually to remove:

Duplicates

Files that are exact copies of one another

Near duplicates

Files that are similar but not exact copies

Email threads

Email chains or conversations

Empty folders

Sub-folders that contain no files

To perform a Cull

Click the Cull tab icon within a Box. This will launch the Culling window.

Toggle the operation(s) you wish to perform and click the Cull button.

This will begin the process in the background and may take a few seconds or minutes depending on the volume of data to be removed.

These processes can also be performed with greater control from the sub-tabs on the Culling page. There is a separate tab for each of the four operations that allow a closer look at the duplicated data and be more precise about which files are kept and which are removed.
