Overview
In order to utilise the Smartbox API a token is required to authenticate any connection from an external source. This authorisation is granted by tokens which are generated and assigned permissions from the Access tokens page. Once a token is created a secret key is generated for use as the Authorization token in any API requests.
The Access tokens page can be found under Data sources in the navigation menu (if you have an active Data sources subscription).
Please note: the Access tokens page is only available to those with the Owner role.
Creating Access tokens
1. Click the create (+) icon to open the New token window.
2. The New token pop-up allows you to assign a name, lifetime and endpoint permissions to the token.
3. Once your selections have been made, click Add to create the token.
4. An access key will be automatically generated upon creation of the token. Click the Copy icon and paste the key somewhere securely for use as the Authorization token for API requests.
Please note: the key can only be copied once, after which it can no longer be viewed. The key will remain visible until it is successfully copied.
5. A token can be amended or deleted at any time by clicking the Edit or Bin icons.
