Having trouble downloading data or opening data downloaded from Smartbox?

Issues downloading


Download is failing



With larger downloads certain operating systems and browsers are more susceptible to network interruptions, which may cause your download to fail. If this occurs our recommendation is to use a third party download manager compatible with your device, such as Folx, Filezilla or Free Download Manager. A download manager will ensure your download is not interrupted by any network or device issues.


Once you have installed a download manager:


(1) Right click on Download, and copy the URL.
(2) Paste it into your download manager and hit Download.

(3) This will begin the process and should prevent it from being cut off from any interruptions.





Issues opening downloads


Unable to open downloaded zip file


Larger data volumes result in a larger exported zip file and the default unarchiving applications installed on Windows and MacOS devices may not be capable of extracting these larger files and / or return an error. 



If this occurs our recommendation is to try one of the following:

  • Unzip the file in Terminal (MacOS) or Command Prompt (Windows).
  • Use a third party application such as "The Unarchiver", "7 Zip" or "WinZip".

Download doesn't include a file extension



Occasionally downloaded data will be stored on your device without a file extension. This is most common when using Safari but can be easily fixed by renaming the file and manually adding the extension ".zip" to the end of the file name, or trying to download using a different browser.
